Guitar Hero enthusiasts will no doubt recognize Heart’s classic hits “Barracuda” and “Crazy on You.” But while today’s generation plays along via PlayStation and Wii, the youth of the 70s heard them first-hand. Taking on the name Heart in the mid-70s, the group brought on Ann and Nancy Wilson, sisters who became the face and eventual backbone of Heart. In 1975 they released Dreamboat Annie, first in Canada and then, after positive sales, on to Seattle and the rest of the country. The album sold over a million copies and earned them a hit single, “Magic Man.”

Success was on the upswing as the 70s drew to a close. The release of Little Queen—which included the number one “Barracuda”—gave them their second million-selling album, which was followed by Magazine and the double-platinum record, Dog and Butterfly. In 1985 they released Heart, which sold five million copies thanks to a handful of top ten hits, including “What About Love,” “Never,” “These Dreams,” and “Nothin’ at All.”

Perhaps just as important as their successes together is Ann and Nancy’s individual triumphs. In 1984, Ann recorded “Almost Paradise” with Mike Reno for the soundtrack of Footloose and later, in 1989, had a hit with Robin Zander from Cheap Trick with “Surrender to Me.” Nancy’s marriage to Cameron Crowe resulted in her writing the score for Almost Famous and compiling the music for the blockbuster hits, Jerry Maguire and Elizabethtown.

Treena Parvello, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Tohono O'odham Gaming Enterprise, said, “Southern Arizona fans were ecstatic when we brought Heart to Desert Diamond Casino in Feb. 2008. We couldn’t wait to bring them back; if you missed them last time, here’s your chance!”
